How do I get a raise?

Answer:

There is no foolproof answer for this one, but we can try to steer you in the right direction:

1. Think like your boss. What you do should align with what your boss thinks is important. This way your boss thinks what you do is important.

2. Make yourself valuable to the company. The more knowledge, skills, and experience that you have - the more valuable you are to the company. Take initiative, go the extra mile, do more training, take on more responsibility. Become as irreplaceable as you can be.

3. Build your case. When the time is right, you want to be able to make a convincing argument as to why you should get a raise. Keep track of your successes, do market research, and look for a good opportunity to bring this up.
